Your screenshots,
with a little context.

Download once.
Then let it work quietly.

ScreenStash watches the screenshot folder you already use. It never takes screenshots itself, and the first launch asks for the folder and privacy consent before monitoring begins.

01

Download or use the CLI

Windows: download the installer above and follow the onboarding steps. Source developers can clone the repository instead.

CLI: clone the repository, enter the folder, and run the command for your platform:

git clone https://github.com/guptapiyush16/ScreenStash.git
cd ScreenStash
Windows: python screenstash.py install
macOS/Linux: python3 screenstash.py install
02

Complete onboarding

Confirm where screenshots are saved, read the private-information notice, and choose whether ScreenStash may start when you log in.

The app creates its local database and starts the background watcher only after you confirm.

03

Enable Gemma 3 locally

Install Ollama, then run this from the ScreenStash folder:

python screenstash.py setup-ai gemma3:4b

Ollama shows the model download progress. The model stays on your computer and can require several GB of disk space.

After setup: take screenshots normally. ScreenStash waits for the file to finish writing, extracts text with OCR, asks local Gemma to classify it, and links the result back to the original image. If Ollama or OCR is unavailable, the offline fallback still runs.

Less admin for your
already-full brain.

ScreenStash takes the little bits of work out of keeping track.

✦

It understands the why.

Not just text extraction. ScreenStash looks for the useful intent behind a screenshot — a deadline to remember, an event to plan for, or a detail to keep close.

✓ "Submit the form" Becomes a task ↗
✦ "Doors open at 7" Becomes an event detail ↗
🔒

Private by design.

Your screenshots can contain personal things. The goal is to process and store them locally, not turn your camera roll into somebody else's dataset.

Our privacy approach ↗
🔍

Find the thing. Fast.

Search by what you remember — a topic, a person, a date, or a detail. No more scrolling through hundreds of screenshots.

YOUR STUFF STAYS YOURS

A little more helpful.
A lot less creepy.

Screenshots can be personal. ScreenStash is being designed around local-first processing, so your private moments don't need to leave your computer to become useful.

✓
Local-first processing
Designed to use on-device AI and OCR. No external servers receive your captures.
✓
Your files stay in your control
Keep originals in your existing OS screenshots folder. SQLite stays on your hard drive.
✓
No account needed for MVP
Your personal stash doesn't need a cloud login, email verification, or tracking.
MAKE ROOM IN YOUR HEAD

Keep the screenshot.
Lose the mental tab.

Let the little things organize themselves, so you can get back to the big things.
